I did nothingJun 06 2007Communications
I did nothing. I did my work in highschool, basically barely passing my classes. VCU accepts ANYONE.

If you are going for a program in art,May 31 2007Art & Design Department
If you are going for a program in art, DO NOT turn in anything that has anime, chicken wire, paper mache, or spray paint. They WILL NOT accept work in a portfolio that has these materials in it. Just be careful of what you use. (check the website, at least when I was in there these were the boundaries.)

The school should be terribly difficult to get inApr 17 2007Engineering Department
The school should be terribly difficult to get in and right now is a great time to attend because the school is actively recruiting top notch students with excellent scholarships. I went on a full ride w/ room and board etc. Warning though, certain programs are VERY competitive (Art school and medical guaranteed admission program and others) so do your homework on your field of interest.

I think a well rounded student is the bestJan 04 2006Nursing
I think a well rounded student is the best in order to get into VCU. I believe they are not looking for the 4.0 students they want someone who still did well in school without being perfect and still had time to play sports or join clubs. Don't live life only for grades!
ACT: 21 SAT: 1080 Female
VCU is becoming more selectiveNov 04 2005Urban Planning
VCU is becoming more selective. The university accepted 68% of its applicants for the 2005 school year. Don't listen to those that say this school is a shoe-in, obviously 32% thought the same thing and were rejected. VCU wants a well-rounded student just like any other college, portrayed by its great amount of diversity. More students are making VCU their first choice. However, getting in to VCU and staying in VCU are two totally different things. VCU is one of the top 100 research universities (mostly due to medical and health sciences research)in the U.S. and the university President has worked hard to ensure that the classroom experience is indicative of that standing. I know many people that dropped out of general education requirements in their freshmen year because of poor academic performance. VCU is not a joke anymore. Personally, I am an IB diploma recipient with a 3.9 GPA. VCU was my first choice, and I will admit that little to no effort can earn one a "C" in many courses, however one must work hard for an A or a B.
